LEARNING FROM NATURE

Nature is a beautiful grace for humanity. We make a contact with nature almost everyday in our life. The air we breath, the water we drink, the earth we step and walk on everyday. Nature is also our main resources for our food and oxygen. Nature gives us our essentials to live.Nature also take part a lot for humanity existence. Without the trees to recycle carbon dioxide and produce oxygen we can’t live. Without plants that supply us with foods, we might not get any food at all.Even if we stop extracting oil and using it as the main energy resources we still utilize nature to generate electricity. I thought that nature is fascinating. If you take a walk to the mountain, you will see the great view of your surroundings. Nature not only gives us things, but it also provide us a place to find calmness. Everything in nature lives in harmony with each other. We can learn a lot from nature. Even now, we learn about nature in our school from a specific subject which is biology. In Biology we learn how nature works.  We take a lot from nature. All things we have right now it’s not fully ours, it’s just a loan from nature.

A lot of people these days have a mindset that nature is an object and humanity has the power to control and do anything to natural environment. Sometimes, we only use nature for our only advantage without  considering about the impact that we have made. The impact to our nature, and the impact to humanity itself. The impact for nature is the decreasing food and livestock supplies due to environmental changes. Human act on nature also influence the rising sea level due to global warming, these bring a lot of problems to cities that built near the coast. Especially for the cities that is located under the sea level such as Bangladesh. Global warming also caused by the incomplete combustion from vehicles we use everyday. The incomplete combustion produces carbon monoxide that could be harmful for human. Deforestation that has happened also give big impact on global warming. Deforestation also harmful for wildlife that live in the area. Endangered species become more and more rare. These actions is also related  opening of the land for to the land opening by certain companies for their palm oil plantation. We never thought that our exploitation to nature could cause a big consequences. A lot of politician have ignored these facts and just thought that it is not a big problem. They thought that climate change is just a lie and believe that climate always change it's behaviour. Unfortunately, they have a great impact on the regulation that can cause a huge difference to the nature and it's resources.

So, after all those things what can we do now? It's easy, let's start by using mass transportation for daily commute around the city.  If the mass transportation isn't well enough we can change the way we commute to walk or biking around  the city. Another easy thing to start is to reduce the usage of electricity by turning off electricity when it is not used. We also could separate organic waste from the inorganic. The inorganic waste  can be recycled to reduce more waste. In a big picture it's easy to preserve nature. It must start from yourselves, then separate the good cause to others.

In the end, I hope we could preserve and live in peace with nature for long period of time. So, humanity and nature can live in harmony.

A HOLIDAY WITH MY FAMILY

24th of December 2016, my family and i went to my grandparent’s house in Jakarta. We started our trip to Jakarta at 9 AM in the morning. We arrived in my grandparent’s house at 2 PM. When we arrived on my grandparents house, my grandparents had prepared lunch for us so we ate the food and talked a bit about our experience in Bandung this year. My grandparents rarely visited Bandung so we had to tell what happened in Bandung for them. It was 24th of December which was Christmas Eve, so at 8 PM we went to the nearest Catholic Church to attend Christmas Eve Eucharist. The Eucharist took about 3 hours it finished at 11 PM. We usually attend Christmas Eve Eucharist on the Christmas Eve to celebrate Christmas.
After the Eucharist we went home and arrived at 12 PM. It was late night so my parents told me to sleep. On 25th of December 2016, my extended family gathered in my grandparents house to celebrate Christmas together. A lot of my kinsfolk came and talked together. Mostly they talked about their experience throughout the year. I heard a lot of funny stories from them. Apart from telling stories we also had a lunch together. My grandmother had cooked our favorite food before we came. It was a long day but it was fun though.
26th of December 2016, my extended family and i went to Thousand Islands specifically we went to Pantara Island and stayed there overnight. The trip had managed by my aunt before we went there. There were a lot to see, the first thing I did in the island was snorkeling, I did it with my uncle. It was a new experience for me since i had never snorkeled before. When snorkeling i could see a lot of coral reefs there. It was beautiful but unfortunately i couldn’t take any photos because my camera won’t survive under the salt water. After I went snorkeling we had a lunch. The food was standard not too good or bad either. At 6 PM we went to the dock and took the sunset cruise. I took a lot of sunset photos using my phone’s camera. After the cruise we went for dinner, and then went to sleep.

In the morning we left the island and went back to Jakarta. We went back to my grandparents house and talked again. In the afternoon we ate a dinner at Bintaro Exchange Mall. We ate at Bakmi GM, the food there are mostly noodles. After the dinner we went to our own house.
On 28th of December 2016, I went to a mall with my grandparents and my cousins to AEON Mall in BSD. I didn’t really like mall a lot so I just waited and sat on the benches near the toilet. I had waited for 3 hours until they were finished. After that my family and I went back to my grandparents house. The next day my family and I left Jakarta at 7 AM. The trip wasn’t great because we were jammed in the highway. It was caused by the shifted Cisomang Bridge. We arrived back in our house at 12 PM. After all it was a great holiday with my family.
The school began on 9th of January 2016 so, I spent the rest of my holiday in my house to play some games.

BIOGRAPHY OF STEVE JOBS

Steven Paul "Steve" Jobs (February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011) was an American businessman, inventor, and industrial designer. He was the co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer (CEO) of Apple Inc, CEO and majority shareholder of Pixar, a member of The Walt Disney Company's board of directors following its acquisition of Pixar, and founder, chairman, and CEO of NeXT.

Jobs co-founded Apple in 1976 to sell Wozniak's Apple I personal computer. The duo gained fame and wealth a year later for the Apple II, one of the first highly successful mass-produced personal computers. In 1979, after a tour of PARC, Jobs saw the commercial potential of the Xerox Alto, which was mouse-driven and had a graphical user interface (GUI). This led to development of the unsuccessful Apple Lisa in 1983, followed by the breakthrough Macintosh in 1984. In addition to being the first mass-produced computer with a GUI, the Macintosh instigated the sudden rise of the desktop publishing industry in 1985 with the addition of the Apple LaserWriter, the first laser printer to feature vector graphics. Following a long power struggle, Jobs was forced out of Apple in 1985.

After leaving Apple, Jobs took a few of its members with him to found NeXT, a computer platform development company specializing in state-of-the-art computers for higher-education and business markets.Jobs also helped to initiate the development of the visual effects industry when he funded the spinout of the computer graphics division of George Lucas's Lucasfilm in 1986. The new company, Pixar, would eventually produce the first fully computer-animated film, Toy Story—an event made possible in part because of Jobs's financial support.

In 1997, Apple acquired and merged NeXT, allowing Jobs to become CEO once again, reviving the company at the verge of bankruptcy. Beginning in 1997 with the "Think different" advertising campaign, Jobs worked closely with designer Jonathan Ive to develop a line of products that would have larger cultural ramifications: the iMac, iTunes and iTunes Store, Apple Store, iPod, iPhone, App Store, and the iPad. Mac OS was also revamped into macOS, based on NeXT's NeXTSTEP platform.

Question About Rafflesia Arnoldii Text

Rafllesia Arnoldii

Rafflesia Arnoldii is a member of the genus rafflesia. It is named after it's founder which is Sir Thomas Raffles (Rafflesia) and Joseph Arnold(Arnoldii). The flower has a very strong odour of decaying flesh. It is endemic to the rainforests of Sumatra and probably Borneo. Rafflesia Arnoldii is one of the three national flowers in Indonesia. It is a national "rare flower" as stated in Presindential Decree No.4 in 1933.

The flower of Rafflesia Arnoldii grow to a diameter of around one meter, but the greatest measured from reliable source is 105 meter. Rafflesia Arnoldii could weight up into 11 kg. These flowers emerge from very large, cabbage-like, maroon or magenta buds typically about 30 cm (12 in) wide, but the largest (and the largest flower bud ever recorded) found at Mount Sago, Sumatra in May 1956 was 43cm (17 in) in diameter.

Rafflesia is a rare flower an fairly hard to locate. It is hard to locate because the buds take a lot of time to develop but the flower only last a few days. the flowers are unisexsual and thus proximity of male and female flowers is vital for successful pollination. These factors make successful pollination a rare event.

When it is ready to reproduce, a tiny bud forms outside the root or stem of its host and develops over a period of a year. The cabbage-like head that develops eventually opens to reveal the flower. The stigma or stamen are attached to a spiked disk inside the flower. A foul smell of rotting meat attracts flies and beetles to pollinate. To pollinate successfully, the flies and/or beetles must visit both the male and female plants, in that order. The fruit produced are round lots filled with smooth flesh including many thousands of hard-coated seeds that are eaten and spread by treeshrews. Elephants also affect the pollination of this flower and this type of pollination is known as Elephophily.

This flower is critically endangered. There are many threats for this flower. One of the threat is the areas where Rafflesia arnoldii grows have become popular tourist attractions.
